Advantages of a classroom blog
- Blogs give students and teachers a voice and promote further discussion of curriculum and classroom issues
- Creates a line of communication for all involved in the learning experience
- Creates a real audience for students to write for
- Teachers can track writing progress
- Allows students to establish an internet identity in a safe manner
- Allows students to teacher each other
- They are global citizens and global collaborators
- Helps teachers have a transparent classroom
Disadvantages of a classroom blog
- Student safety is a concern as educators we must be aware of who can read and post on a classroom blog
- Digital access is a concern because not all students have the same level of access to technology at home
- Students or teachers could post information or thoughts that could lead to negative interactions
Educational Bloggers
Patrick is a colleague who I taught with for two years. During that time his ideas and technical knowledge of IICT has been an incredible resource for me as teacher. He truly is an educator who is leading the way in the integration of information and technology.
Joseph Romano is an innovative teacher with the Toronto District SChool Board. He was my AQ course instructor and has led many different teachers to integrate technology into their classrooms in innovative and effective ways. Joseph Romano is a Model Schools for Inner Cities (MSIC) Teaching & Learning Coach at the Toronto District School Board (TDSB).
